Evangelicals and Agribusiness fill Brasília in a pro-Bolsonaro demonstration
Organized over weeks, the event was attended by several sectors. Farmers from various parts of the country organized themselves to be present at the demonstration.
Yesterday’s event rescues Bolsonaro’s credibility, shaken by the poor demonstration of May 1, showing that it is in agribusiness and among evangelicals that he should seek support for reelection.
With prayers, Bolsonarists called for a new constitution in protest in Brasilia. Chanting prayers and shouting slogans, protesters also called for military intervention and the criminalization of communism.
This Saturday (15), President Jair Bolsonaro participated in Brasilia in pro-government demonstrations promoted by religious and ruralists.
The March of the Christian Family for Freedom began in the morning. In the afternoon, it merged with the movement of farmers and truck drivers.
Before going to the demonstration, the president had lunch with agribusiness entrepreneurs at a Centro de Tradições Gaúchas (CTG).
At the demonstration, Bolsonaro was accompanied by ministers Braga Netto (Defense), Tarcísio Gomes de Freitas (Infrastructure), Tereza Cristina (Agriculture), Ricardo Salles (Environment) and Gilson Machado (Tourism), the majority without a mask. Parliamentarians also attended the act.
Bolsonaro also cited again the mayors and governors who adopted measures of social isolation to restrict the advance of the covid-19 pandemic. “This pandemic was not really easy. But we managed to maintain the level of formal jobs. Already informal, almost 40 million [lost jobs], who destroyed it? There were some governors and mayors, with their policy, without any scientific proof, of ‘stay at home, the economy we will see later‘” said the president.
In a short speech, the Minister of Agriculture, Tereza Cristina, celebrated the importance of agribusiness. Tarcísio de Freitas, in turn, defended the government’s work in creating railways and highways that benefit ruralists.
“The agribusiness is the greatest friend of the environment, that is the truth. Cities pollute. The Brazilian agribusiness is an example for the whole world”, affirmed Ricardo Salles, Minister of the Environment.
Before getting on the sound-car, Bolsonaro greeted supporters. Earlier, the president had lunch at the Centro de Tradições Gaúchas in Brasília, with representatives of agribusiness who organized the protest.
