Average diesel price is 45% above that registered 12 months ago, points out Ticket Log

After retreat in April, fuel returns to record increase in gas stations

The most recent survey by the Ticket Log Price Index (IPTL) points to an increase of 5.62% in the average diesel price, compared to the end of April. The fuel was sold at R$ 4,699 at service stations, a value 45.12% above that registered in May last year. Already the diesel S-10, found at R$ 4.760, advanced 5.87% compared to last month and is 45.48% higher than in the same period of 2020.

The reduction in April, which interrupted a sequence of five consecutive increases until March, was no longer maintained at the beginning of May. Now, with the average data for the month, we see that prices rose again in the country. Compared to March, diesel is 4.72% more expensive, and S-10 diesel, 4.87% higher“, points out Douglas Pina,  Head  of Urban Market at Edenred Brasil.

The biggest price increases were registered in the South Region, of 7.28% in the average value per liter of common diesel, and 7.46% in the case of the S-10. The same region had the lowest average prices in the period, at R$4.360 per liter for the common type, and R$4.408 for the S-10.

The most expensive average prices were found in the North Region, which also presented the smallest increases. Regular diesel at service stations was sold at R$ 4.935, after an increase of 4.03%. The S-10 diesel advanced 4.62% and was found at R$5,004.

In the cross-section between the states, the scenario of the beginning of May was maintained, with Acre presenting the most expensive fuels, and Paraná, the cheapest. At Acre gas stations, diesel was sold at R$ 5.646, and S-10 diesel at R$ 5.589. In Paraná, the common type was found at R$4.308, and the S-10 type, at R$4.353.

In no state in the country was there registered a reduction in the price per liter of diesel or S-10 diesel, compared to April. The biggest increases, in turn, were identified in Santa Catarina, where the common type increased 7.61%, and the S-10 type, 7.75%”, highlights Pina.
