“It is gratifying to monitor the progress of this program with the integration of various Government portfolios to improve people’s lives. There are many work fronts that will bring more dignity, housing, health, education to the families in Santa Catarina who need it most”, says Governor Carlos Moisés. He points out that since the launch of the program in September, important actions, within the scope of Gente Catarina, have already been consolidated, one of them still this week, when the head of the state Executive launched the SC Mais Habitation, for the construction of houses for needy families, in partnership with the municipalities.

Selection of grantees by FAPESP

The process to select scholarship holders who will work in the Gente Catarina program, to combat inequality, is already open for applications. Interested parties have until November 19 to access the form available on the Fapesc Platform . There are vacancies in several areas of knowledge to work in the following cities: Hunter (6 vacancies); Chapecó (6); Florianópolis (3); Lages (7); Rio do Sul (7); Vine (1) and Xanxerê (1). Check out the details of the opportunities below. Scholarships are in the Technological and Industrial Development (DTI) modality, with a duration of one year, and may be renewed for another year. The value is R$ 4.8 thousand per month.

The public call is also part of #fapesc@gov+pesquisa&inovação, an Interinstitutional Program for Fostering Research, Development and Innovation Projects that meet the demands of society in Santa Catarina through sectorial bodies of the Government of the State of Santa Catarina.

The president of Fapesc, Fábio Zabot Holthausen, emphasizes the importance of integrating several portfolios of the State government. “We are joining forces and developing a major intervention project. FAPESP has contributed not only to the development of the program and the project, but also with the expertise of its professionals in carrying out this public call to make this challenge to the Science, Technology and Innovation (CTI) ecosystem, bringing, at first, some scholarship holders to work with the situation rooms and contribute to the development of methodologies, survey and data analysis so that we can design a change in this scenario and transform the reality of these regions.”

Fapesc’s Science and Research Manager, Deborah Bernett, is a member of the Working Group of the Gente Catarina Program. “It is a great challenge to work with data and information that reflect the social reality of municipalities with the lowest HDI. The collective effort of State bodies, allied to society, is capable of transforming challenges into concrete actions towards solving problems. That is the main purpose of the program. The team is interdisciplinary and highly competent. And now, with the hiring of scholarship holders with experience and knowledge, there will be more skills in the team”.

More about the Catarina People

Building solutions with integrated actions is the main focus of Gente Catarina. For this, previously existing programs, covering the areas of Education, Health, Security, Social and Economic Development, will be promoted through financial contributions, promoting better results in facing the causes that impact the low HDI in the target municipalities.

The action plans are divided into five areas, according to their objectives: Strengthening of Primary Health Care – APS; Empowerment of the School Community; Monitoring of Rights Violation; Vocation Mapping; Territorial Development Agenda.

Initially, representatives from different areas of the State Government are involved in the Program, starting with the Governor’s Office. Civil House, Department of Social Development, Department of Economic Development, Department of Education, Department of Health, FAPESP and Department of Communication will also be mobilized in the implementation of Gente Catarina.
