A survey carried out by Provu shows that orders related to home care, purchase of electronics and appliances and debt payment in general continue to fall
Brazilians are taking the dream of being an entrepreneur off paper. Research carried out by Provu, a fintech specialized in means of payment and personal credit, reveals that 45.6% of credit requests made during the month of May were for business purposes. Requests to open a company or invest in an existing business are increasing and continue to lead the ranking of reasons for borrowing. In the same period of the previous year, this number was 34.7%. Among the states that most requested credit for this purpose are Ceará, with 58% of requests, followed by Pernambuco, with 56.4%, and Bahia, with 55.9%.
Meanwhile, requests for debt-payment loans in general have been falling. In May, the category corresponded to 29%, while it reached 33.6% in that same month in 2021.
Through the survey, it is also possible to see that the behavior of Brazilians has been changing after the quarantine and the reasons for asking for loans as well. An example is the drop in requests related to home renovation, moving or acquiring new furniture. About 7% of requests in May had this reason, while in the same month of 2021 the number was 11.2%. Credit requests for electronics and home appliances have also followed the same downward trend, with a record of 3.8% this year against 6.1% last year.
