In a decade, SC company helped business groups to save BRL 2 billion with joint purchases
Central Area of Rio do Sul (SC) recorded R$ 13 billion transacted on its management platform in its first decade of operation
Área Central, a company from Rio do Sul (SC) specializing in technology and intelligence for business groups, accounted for R$ 13 billion generated in joint purchases within its management platform in its first decade of operation — completed last year. The value was reached through 1.13 million joint transactions made between buyers and suppliers on the AC Hub platform from 2012 to 2022, according to a survey carried out by the company.
A benchmark in b2b joint purchases in the Brazilian market, the Central Area has a client portfolio made up of around 200 chains and business centers and franchises that add up to more than ten thousand stores in Brazil. In its period of activity, the technology company claims that its customers managed to save a combined R$ 2 billion.
In 2022, the Central Area recorded an increase of 16.1% in the number of joint purchases made within the platform compared to the previous year, from 207,287 to 240,686 completed joint purchases. In terms of values, the financial transactions of all customers with this modality grew 12.8%, jumping from R$ 2.99 billion to R$ 3.37 billion from one year to the next.
According to Jonatan da Costa, CEO of Área Central, the market practice of joint purchases occurs when a group of the same segment comes together to purchase one or more products, finding the best offers among suppliers and achieving a more attractive and, consequently, economical and profitable for organizations. Representatives of more than 20 economic sectors are among the users of the technology, including supermarket, building material and retail chains.
Today, the Central Area solution provides, on average, 15% in savings for business centers, franchises, associative networks and unions. Last year alone, the amount saved jointly by the companies as a result of collective purchases reached R$ 506.63 million.
“This cost reduction and growth stems from the centralization and management with a 360° view of purchase and sale information, suppliers and product mix of all network units or business center. Thus, the collective bargaining power is fed and better negotiations and results are achieved for the companies”, he explains.
