In a seminar promoted by the MPF, authorities and experts discussed combating hate crimes and neo-Nazi cells in Brazil
The event, which takes place at the headquarters of the Federal Public Ministry in Santa Catarina, in the city of Florianópolis (SC), ends this Friday (15)
“Confronting neo-Nazism is fighting a dispute on the terrain of ideas. Obviously combating the concrete actions of these groups is also essential. But hindering the growth of ideology is, in my opinion, the most effective means of preventing acts of symbolic and, mainly, physical violence against society.” It was with this speech that Carlos Alberto Vilhena, Federal Attorney for Citizens’ Rights (PFDC), began the Seminar on Confronting Neo-Nazism in the South Region, held in Florianópolis (SC), this Thursday, 14th, by the Federal Public Ministry (MPF).
The panel included Vilhena, regional prosecutor of the Republic Marcelo Veiga Beckhausen, coordinator at the Operational Support Center for the PFDC (Naop-PFDC) in the 4th Region, the deputy chief prosecutor of the MPF in Santa Catarina, Eduardo de Oliveira Rodrigues, federal judge Henrique Luiz Hartmann, director of the Federal Court of Justice in the state, and federal judge Cláudia Maria Dadico, director of the Department of Mediation and Conciliation of Agrarian Conflicts of the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Family Agriculture.
