First organized planned walking and cycling circuit in Brazil – Do you know where it is?
The region where it was implemented benefits from a partnership between the private sector and public authorities .
The Walker Circuit is a route of more than 200 kilometers that connects nine cities in the European Valley through narrow, mostly rural roads.
The Circuit begins and ends in the municipality of Indaial, which is geographically in the center of the circuit. Around it are the other cities that will be visited.
The forecast is for nine days of walking, where the walker will find natural, religious and cultural attractions close to the daily routes.
This circuit can also be done by bicycle or car, with some differences in the routes.
The circuit is structured and has a network of accommodation and food establishments to support walkers. It can either be traveled on your own, as it is self-guided, or with the help of an accredited tour operator.
The European Valley Walker Circuit varies in difficulty between moderate and difficult. The complete route is a total of 200 kilometers with an altitude of 900 meters.
This means that in addition to walking a lot – between four and six hours a day – the participant will also face steep climbs and reach 900 meters of altitude along the way. For this reason, it is not a recommended circuit for beginners.
If you have any questions, you can contact the circuit team via WhatsApp available on the website .
Along the stages of the route through the European Valley there are usually commercial establishments, such as bakeries, cafes, restaurants and beer bars where you can dine. In places where there are not many options, there will be a warning in the circuit’s guidance booklet.
Before starting the walk, check the opening hours of the establishments and always keep snacks in your backpack just in case. On the map available on the circuit website you can see some options that are close to each day’s route.
