Wine from an inhospitable region of Italy arrives in Brazil

Inserrata is a reference for lovers of exclusive wines, with labels that go beyond flavor, presenting a modern, avant-garde and empowering visual identity

From a small village in Tuscany, Italy, Gabriele Dolfi, founder of Inserrata, brought to the world of wine not only exclusive products, but also a strong and authentic identity, typical characteristics of Italian products.

Inserrata is an organic winery located in San Miniato, an Italian commune in the Tuscany region, province of Pisa, with around 26,353 inhabitants. Founded in 1997 by the Dolfi couple, the winery initially produced organic wines and olive oil. Over time, Inserrata has become a reference for lovers of exclusive wines, with labels that go beyond flavor, presenting a modern, avant-garde and empowering visual identity.

Gabrieli Dolfi, son of the founders and current manager of Inserrata, shared his story during an event in Curitiba, where he participated in a chat and wine tasting at the Balbino e Martins wine bar. He talked about the transformation of the family winery into a globally recognized brand.

In 2005, Inserrata received organic certification from the European Union, an important milestone for the company. However, it was in 2015 that the big turnaround began to happen. Gabrieli, who had graduated in Information Technology, received a proposal from his parents to scale the business and revamp the winery. Accepting the challenge, the young man assumed leadership and sought to improve Inserrata’s image.

One of the first steps was to find an artist capable of transforming Inserrata bottles into true works of art. The partnership with London artist Alexandria Coe, who had previously worked with the international perfume brand Chanel, resulted in striking labels with the stylized image of Gabrieli’s mother’s female face, full of color and energy, representing each of the wines produced by the company. winery. Furthermore, Inserrata’s logo became similar to Playboy’s, replacing the rabbit with a stylized design of two olives.

Product improvement was another important step. To achieve this, Inserrata counted on the partnership of David Picci, a winemaker who has accumulated more than 20 years of experience in famous wineries, including that of filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola. With the guidance of David Picci, Inserrata sought to extract the best from the grapes and the soil, maintaining the particular characteristics and following organic practices in production.

In Brazil, MMV Importadora is responsible for bringing Inserrata wines from Italy. The importer has dedicated itself to finding exclusive labels from small and medium-sized producers, such as Inserrata.

Among the Inserrata wines available in Brazil is Inserrata Insieme, a red produced with the Merlot grape and with surprising characteristics – due to the mineral characteristics of the San Miniato soil, this Merlot wine breaks the standard and delivers a full-bodied wine, with high acidity and very present tannins – in addition to being extremely tasty, presenting the full expression of the fruit.

Another option is Inebriante, a 100% Sangiovese rosé, with a salmon color. It has a clean aroma, with notes of red fruits, such as cranberry, peach and lychee. In the mouth, it is light and refreshing, with a flavor reminiscent of red fruit pulp and a well-balanced acidity.

Inusuale is a surprising white wine made with the Sangiovese grape – traditional from the Tuscan region and known for being the red grape of this place – the unusual thing about this wine is precisely this famous red grape vinified as white wine – a unique example in the world! It has a citrus aroma, with notes of lemon, pineapple and passion fruit. It is very refreshing, highlighting its citrus characteristics, and has a short, slightly mineral finish.

For a more complete experience, you can stay at the Inserrata Boutique Hotel, an Airbnb located at the winery itself. The hotel was built at the end of the 19th century and was used as a hunting lodge and holiday resort by Italian Prime Minister Sidney Sonnino, who owned the surrounding farm, including 100 hectares of forest, olive grove, vineyard, orchard and vegetable garden.
